Teresa L. Campbell

Teresa L. Campbell is the owner and founder of TLC Charm Etiquette & Modeling which is one of Philadelphia’s premier training programs for girls between the ages of 4-17 years old.  TLC Charm’s subsidiaries include our Etiquette Finishing School, TLCC Modeling for girls and boys, TLC Charm Summer Modeling Camp and periodic Modeling Boot Camps held throughout the year.   She is an etiquette trainer and consultant, modeling instructor / runway coach, a fashion stylist, fashion show coordinator / commentator.

Teresa is a Philadelphia native and graduated from University City High School, attended Morgan State University and received an Associates degree in Liberal Arts from Community College of Philadelphia.  She worked for twenty plus years in administrative management.

At an early age, Teresa was exposed to modeling, dance, and charm classes.   She attended Charmtique charm classes, taught by Mrs. Dorothy Whiten, which instilled her love for etiquette and modeling and motivated her graduation from the Barbizon School of Modeling.  Although she was the only African American in her class, her Charmtique training armed her with self-esteem and the classes at Barbizon served to further boost her confidence.  Teresa always knew that someday she wanted to teach and share these experiences.  Even as a child, she devised games in which she was the "charm school teacher".   In high school, Teresa was harmlessly teased by her classmates / friends who called her nicknames like “High Society” and “Mahogany” because of how she carried myself.  A defining moment for Teresa occurred when she was taken to the Ebony Fashion Fair Fashion Show as a teenager and was hooked!  She thought it was the most amazing show she had ever seen!  Teresa knew then that she had a passion for fashion shows and runway modeling.

In 2008, TLC Charm Etiquette and Modeling was founded in an attempt to instill the social graces in our young ladies.  After many discussions with her teenage niece, as well as her childhood friend, Andrea McClenon of Andrea Rose Photography, they decided there was a need for a neighborhood based Charm School like the one Teresa and Andrea used to attend Charmtique.  They began holding Saturday classes at Sayers Memorial United Methodist Church in the Cobbs Creek area of Philadelphia.   One of their main goals is to lend parents a helping hand and their motto is “We turn caterpillars into butterflies"!

TLC Charm started as an etiquette program for girls in the Philadelphia area.  Modeling was added to the program to act as a self-esteem builder.  Eventually, the modeling portion of the program became more in demand and TLCC modeling became a stand alone entity. TLCC Modeling is an intense modeling training program that offers many benefits for young ladies and young men that enjoy the fashion industry.  TLCC Modeling students are exposed to high fashion professional photo shoots on a weekly basis with Andrea Rose Photography.  Training is provided in runway, print and commercial modeling.

In response to popular demand, TLC Charm Summer Modeling Camp in started in 2009.  Camp is run daily for the entire summer at SMUMC Community Hall.   There are two separate age based programs for girls 4 – 11 and 12 – 17 years old.

TLC Charm Etiquette Finishing School caters to young ladies from the ages of 4-17 and offers training in etiquette, manners, protocol and basic modeling techniques.  Classes are held on Saturday mornings at the Euro Kids Learning Center at 1134 Pine Street in Philadelphia.

Teresa believes that it is extremely important for young girls to love themselves, enjoy all that it means to be a young lady, carry themselves with high standards, exhibit proper social graces and believe anything is possible.  At a height of 5’3, she learned early on that she was not going to be a high fashion runway model, but she did not let that hinder her from appearing in many local fashion shows and projecting the same attitude as much taller models!

It is Teresa's firm belief that refined social graces, style, and poise are timeless attributes.  Since 2008, she has been dedicated to TLC Charm, researching and developing a unique program which will provide a life long benefit for every attendant.  Teresa's dream is that every young lady or young man should not only embody the confidence, social graces and style needed to succeed in life, but also realize that inner beauty and intelligence are the winning combination for success!
